On the 8th of November 2023, a new Village Saving and Loan Association (VSLA) initiative was created for the women’s group in the Lamakara Community known as Yumzaa Women Group (YWG). This initiative aims at supporting women to develop the spirit of saving and being financially independent for themselves. This is one out of many initiatives WUZDA Ghana is using to change lives and livelihoods involving the marginalized people in our communities. WUZDA Ghana has introduced a sanitation savings component in the VLSA scheme to help households and individuals acquire latrines in their homes to improve their health and to put a stop to open defecation in their surroundings.
